For the youth in our communities, it means the world to have somewhere to go between the classroom and home. Giving kids living in stressful environments the opportunity to be themselves That’s why United Way works with local partners to ensure kids have access to after-school programs and drop-ins.

Esther first joined a United Way-supported after-school program when she was eight years old. Now she volunteers because of the impact the program had on her life.

“Some kids come from not-so-great backgrounds, and they’re always sort of the ‘adult’ at home,” Esther explains. “But when they come to the programs, we just let them be themselves.”
